An Air India Express flight operating from Vijayawada to Bengaluru was cancelled on Thursday after the aircraft was involved in a bird strike, according to PTI.
Officials said the eagle struck the plane’s nose while it was taxiing on the runway for departure, which led the airline to cancel the service and arrange alternate travel plans for passengers. “The incident occurred before take-off during taxiing,” an airline representative told PTI.
Just a few days earlier, a similar case was reported when an IndiGo flight from Nagpur to Kolkata had to return to the Nagpur airport after a suspected bird hit shortly after take-off on Tuesday morning.
The aircraft, which was carrying nearly 160 to 165 passengers, landed safely back in Nagpur as a precaution. The flight was subsequently cancelled, an official confirmed to PTI.
