India’s sedan segment recorded strong sales during October 2025, driven by festive season demand and manufacturer incentives. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire maintained its position as the country’s best-selling sedan, while several models showed varying year-on-year performance.
Sedan Class Top Performers
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire led the sedan segment with 20,791 units sold in October 2025, representing a 63.73 percent year-on-year increase from 12,698 units in October 2024.
The Hyundai Aura secured second position with 5,815 units sold during the month. The Honda Amaze followed in third place with 3,630 units, while the Volkswagen Virtus recorded sales of 2,453 units to claim fourth position.
Mid-Segment Sales
The Skoda Slavia registered 1,648 units in October 2025, showing marginal 0.67 percent year-on-year growth from 1,637 units in October 2024.
Tata Tigor, including both internal combustion engine and electric variants, recorded combined sales of 1,196 units in October 2025, an increase of 926 units from the previous year, representing 29.16 percent year-on-year growth.
Declining Models
Two established sedans experienced year-on-year sales declines. The Hyundai Verna sold 824 units in October 2025 compared to 1,004 units in October 2024, marking a decline in sales volume.
The Honda City recorded 578 units in October 2025, down from 1,004 units in the same month last year, representing a 42.43 percent year-on-year decrease.
Premium Segment
The Toyota Camry, positioned in the premium sedan category, sold 276 units in October 2025, up from 176 units in October 2024, showing 57 percent year-on-year growth.
Market Context
The October sales figures reflect festive season buying patterns, a period traditionally associated with increased automobile purchases in India. Manufacturers offered various discounts and incentives during this period to capitalize on heightened consumer demand.
While sport utility vehicles continue to dominate global automobile markets, sedans maintain a substantial market presence in India across multiple price segments, from entry-level models to premium offerings.
