Javed Akhtar is well-known for his outspoken views on socio-political issues. Recently, the lyricist-screenwriter tweeted about the upcoming US presidential election. However, when attacked by a group of trolls, the former Rajya Sabha MP responded firmly, criticizing their lack of knowledge about history and politics.
The Padma Bhushan recipient tweeted, “I am a proud Indian citizen and till my last breath I will remain so but I have one common fact with Joe Biden. Both of us have exactly equal chance of becoming the next president of USA.”
In response to his post, a user commented, “Your father was instrumental in creating Pakistan to have a nation just for Muslims. Then, under the guise of being a progressive writer, he chose to remain in India.
You are the son of a traitor who divided our nation along religious lines. Now you say anything, but this is the truth.” Javed shot back, captioning his post, “It is difficult to decide whether you are totally ignorant or a complete idiot. From 1857, my family has been involved with the freedom movement and has gone to jails and Kala Pani, while most probably your forefathers were licking the boots of the British government.”
