Tirupati: Police in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, have arrested a 22-year-old man for the alleged rape and murder of his three-year-old niece on Friday. The accused, who resided in the same colony as the victim, allegedly lured the child away with the promise of chocolates.

“The police have identified the child’s uncle as the accused. He took her to buy chocolates, raped her and murdered her,” stated Tirupati SP Subbarayudu.
According to police reports, the accused took the victim to a nearby field where the crime occurred. After the assault, he allegedly killed the child and buried her body at the scene.

The victim’s parents initiated a search when their daughter went missing and subsequently filed a police complaint. During the investigation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime. He remains in police custody while the Tirupati Rural police continue their investigation.
The victim’s body has been transferred to Puttur Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Local political representatives have called for severe punishment in the case.
