Lady Gaga Slams Her College Group That Stated She’d Never be Famous

Lady Gaga has amassed an impressive collection of awards, including an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, 13 Grammys, 10 Billboard Music Awards, and 18 MTV Video Music Awards. But did you know that during her time at New York University, some of her classmates formed a group predicting she’d never be famous?

Lady Gaga responds to college group
On Friday, Lady Gaga reacted to a TikTok that compared her achievements to a Facebook group called “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous,” using her real name. Gaga commented, “Some people I went to college with made this way back when. This is why you can’t give up when people doubt you or put you down — gotta keep going.”

Before her rise to fame, Lady Gaga attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts but dropped out in 2005 to pursue a music career. She began performing in New York clubs before releasing her debut album The Fame in 2008, followed by hits like Born This Way (2011) and Chromatica (2020). In 2013, she transitioned into acting, starring in the Oscar-nominated film A Star Is Born (2018) alongside Bradley Cooper.

Lady Gaga’s upcoming project
Next, Lady Gaga is set to portray Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Joker. The film, scheduled for release on October 2, continues the success of the original, which earned 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Best Original Score. In the sequel, Phoenix reprises his role as Joker, with a supporting cast that includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Harry Lawtey, and Zazie Beetz, who returns as Sophie from the first film. Unlike its predecessor, the sequel is rumored to be a musical, expanding on Phoenix’s dancing scenes. Joker: Folie à Deux recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where Lady Gaga made a stylish appearance.
